What it does

Add a number to the start of every line, counting from one. It all runs in your browser, so the text you paste is never uploaded anywhere.

For the text you keep reworking

If you are cleaning up text you copied from somewhere, you will probably want the original again later. Relic keeps an encrypted, searchable history of everything you copy, on every device, so the version you started from is always one search away.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add line numbers to text?

Paste your text and the tool puts a number and a period at the start of every line, beginning at 1 and counting down the block. Copy the numbered result in one click.

What format do the line numbers use?

Each line is prefixed with its number followed by a period and a space, like "1. ", "2. ", and so on. It reads as a clean numbered list, which is handy for turning a plain block of items into an ordered one.

Does it number blank lines too?

Yes. Every line gets a number, including empty ones, so the count matches the actual line positions in your text. If you would rather not number the blanks, remove empty lines first with our text cleaner.

Can I use this to make a numbered list to paste elsewhere?

Absolutely. Because the numbers become plain text baked into each line, the list stays numbered wherever you paste it, even in places that do not offer their own list formatting, like a bio or a plain-text field.

Is my text uploaded when I number the lines?

No. Everything runs in your browser, so the text you paste never leaves your device.
