How do I make strikethrough text to paste anywhere?
Type your text and copy the crossed-out result. Unlike a strikethrough button, this works in bios, usernames, and other spots that ignore formatting, because the line is baked into the characters themselves.
How does the strikethrough actually work?
Each of your characters gets a Unicode combining mark added to it, a short line that renders straight through the letter. Because the line is part of the text rather than applied formatting, it copies and pastes intact wherever plain text is allowed.
What is the difference between this and Discord's ~~strikethrough~~?
Discord's double-tilde markdown only works inside messages and vanishes anywhere else. The combining-mark version here is the character itself, so it also survives in names, channel titles, and any app with no strikethrough option at all.
Why does the strike line sometimes sit slightly off?
Combining marks are drawn on top of each character, and different fonts and devices position them a little differently, so the line can look higher, lower, or uneven on some screens. It renders cleanly in most modern apps.
Can screen readers read strikethrough text?
Not reliably. The combining marks confuse many screen readers, which may read the text strangely or skip characters, so use strikethrough for effect only and keep anything essential in plain, unmarked text.
