Where to find it

Right-click a row in the Relic window and the item menu opens. Copy as is in the middle of it, with a submenu of five ways to copy the same text. The ⋯ button on the row opens a shorter version of the same menu, with Copy as still in it.

Copy as appears on text items only, and never on a secret. There is nothing to reshape on an image or a file, and Relic keeps masked items out of it.

Whichever one you pick, the item is put on your clipboard and a toast confirms which shape you got:

The five ways

Plain text

The same words with any bold, links and colours stripped off.

UPPERCASE

Every letter capital.

lowercase

Every letter small.

Title Case

Every Word Starts With A Capital. Words with an apostrophe or a hyphen stay one word.

Single line

Line breaks, tabs and runs of spaces all become one space, so a block of text becomes one line.

Nothing in your vault changes. The item keeps the text it always had, and only the copy on your clipboard is reshaped, so you can do it again differently a moment later.

• Single line is the one for pasting a copied paragraph into a field that only accepts one line, like a search box or a spreadsheet cell.
• Title Case is for a heading you pasted in the wrong case.

Plain text and formatting

Relic remembers how text looked when you copied it, and puts the formatting back when you paste. That is one row in the Capture pane, on out of the box. Bold, links and colours covers it in full.

Copy as > Plain text is the way to skip it once, for the paste in front of you, without changing the setting for everything. Use it when you want the words out of a styled page and none of its fonts or colours.
