Settings: General

Open Settings with the gear in the Relic window. General is the first pane. Every row below is drawn the way the app draws it, with its default. Where a row has its own page, the row's name links to it.

Startup and the tray

With Launch Relic at login on, Relic starts hidden when you sign in and begins capturing straight away. On Linux desktops with no tray, the second row explains that Relic already runs from the shortcut alone. More on the tray in The Relic window.

Shortcuts

Each row shows the current keys and a Change button. The last two rows appear only while Sequential paste stack is on. To change one, or to put it back to its default, see Changing a shortcut.

Look and feel

Appearance follows your system, or stays dark or light. The default is Light. Popup size sets how tall the window opens. The last two rows are the small flourish and the sound Relic plays when you keep an item; both are cosmetic.

Paste behaviour

On, picking an item in the window copies it and pastes it into the app you were just in, in one press. Off, picking an item only copies it, and you press Ctrl›V yourself. On a Mac this needs the Accessibility permission below.

Accessibility on a Mac

This section only appears on a Mac. macOS asks before any app may press keys on your behalf. Relic uses that permission for two things: to paste the item you picked into the app you came from, and to grab your selection when you press the save and annotate shortcut. Everything else works without it. The section shows whether the permission is Allowed, Not allowed yet, or still being checked, with a button to open the right pane of System Settings and a Re-check button for after you have granted it.

Power features

Four features that are off until you want them. Each one adds something to the window or a new shortcut.

Multi-select to combine lets you pick several rows and paste them as one block, joined by a newline, a space or a comma. Clip reminders adds a Remind me… item to the row menu. Open history at the cursor opens the window next to your text cursor when the app you are in reports where that is (Windows and Mac only). The mini picker already follows the cursor on its own. Sequential paste stack turns on the two stack shortcuts.
