Type a date in the search box

You do not have to open anything to search by date. Write the date the way you would say it and Relic takes it out of your words, turns it into a gold chip above the list, and searches the rest.

The chip carries the words you typed, so you can see what Relic understood. Click it and the date filter comes off. If it came from something you typed, clicking the chip takes that phrase back out of the box for you.

Phrases that work

All of these are understood, in the search box and nowhere else you have to learn:

today: Since midnight. yesterday is the day before.
last week: The calendar week before this one. last month and last year work the same way.
this week: Since the week started. this month and this year too.
recently: The last month or so. lately means the same. just now means the last day.
a few days ago: Roughly the last work week. a few weeks ago, a few months ago and a few years ago widen it.
a while ago: Older than about a month. ages ago is older than about three months.
3 days ago: That day exactly. Weeks, months and years work too, in digits or words: two weeks ago.
last 30 days: A rolling window up to now. past 6 months does the same.
from June to August: Everything between the two, ends included.
before 2025: Older than that. until and up to do the same.
after June: Newer than that. since and as of do the same.
June 20: One day. 20 June, June 20 2026 and 6/20 all land in the same place.
2026-06-20: One day, written out. 2026-06 is the whole month.
in June: That month. Relic picks the most recent June that has already happened.

A bare month name is enough for most months. May and March are the exceptions, because they are ordinary words as well. Write in May or in March when you mean the month, or give it a day or a year.

Nothing here needs a network or a model. It is the same short list of patterns every time, so the same phrase always means the same range.

The date button

The calendar button sits to the left of the sort button, under the search box. It opens a sheet of presets, and it turns gold whenever a date filter is on, whether you picked it here or typed it.

Custom range… swaps the sheet for a calendar where you pick a first and a last day.
Clear date filter takes the filter off.

A range you pick here wins over a date phrase still sitting in the search box. Clear it and the typed phrase takes over again.

How dates behave

Dates are always in the past. Relic is an archive of things you already copied, so a phrase pointing at the future matches nothing and your words are left alone.
The phrase is not searched for. Once a date phrase becomes a filter it stops being a word to match, so invoice last week does not go looking for items containing the word week.
A bare month or day assumes the recent past. June in September means this June. June in March means last June.
Slash dates read month first. 6/20 is the twentieth of June. When the first number cannot be a month, Relic swaps the two for you.
The date is when Relic captured the item. A date written inside the item does not count. A receipt dated in March that you copied in June is a June item.
