Your tags and Relic's tags
Every item can carry two sorts of tag. The ones you write are yours: project names, clients, whatever you sort by. The ones Relic adds describe what the thing is, like url, receipt or screenshot. Both are searchable and both show under the item in the list.
The automatic ones come from the content itself. Collections explains the chips built on top of them.
The tags sheet
The # button in the header opens every tag you have. It is titled Tags, or Tags · Vault when the Vault scope is on, so the counts match what you are looking at.
- A Filter tags… box at the top, focused and ready, for when the list is long.
- YOUR TAGS, most used first, with a gold + New tag button sitting inline as the first chip.
- AUTO underneath, when Relic has added any.
The line along the bottom says what the chips do:
Picking a tag applies the filter and closes the sheet, so you land straight in the results. The tag stays visible as a gold chip above the list and comes off when you click it.
+ New tag makes a tag before any item has it, so it is ready in the suggestions next time you edit something. Spaces become hyphens and everything is stored in lower case.
Renaming or deleting a tag
Long-press a chip in the sheet (right-click on a computer) and it turns into a small editor. Type a new name to rename the tag everywhere it is used, or delete it to take it off every item at once. Neither one touches the items themselves.
One tag will not budge. secret is the tag Relic puts on things it has masked, like an API key or a card number. Renaming or removing it would quietly unmask the item, so it has a small lock instead of an x and the editor never opens for it. Everything else is yours to rearrange.
Tagging one item
Double-click a row to open it. The tags field holds the item's current tags, each with an x to take it off. The hint under the fields says it plainly:
Under the field, YOUR TAGS · TAP TO ADD lists tags you already use that this item does not have yet. One tap adds one. In the editor, the secret tag shows a lock rather than an x, for the same reason as in the sheet.
Tagging several at once
Select several rows (Ctrl-click, or Shift-click for a run) and the control row turns into a bar with the number selected and a set of buttons. Press Tag and a small dialog opens, titled Tag 4 items with your count in it. Type a name, press Apply, and the tag lands on all of them.
Relic confirms with a toast that names the tag, and the new tag is added to your list so it turns up in the suggestions from then on. Items that already had it are left alone.
Searching by tag
Anywhere you can type, tag:travel narrows to that tag. Repeat it for several at once, and mix it with words, dates and the rest. The match has to be the whole tag, so tag:ip never picks up zip. Search operators has the full list, and Searching your vault covers the window around it.
