What the shortcut does
Everything you copy goes into your history, and on the free plan history does not last forever. Your Vault does. Moving an item from one to the other is called keeping it, and Ctrl + Shift + W keeps the most recent one.
Nothing opens. The Relic window does not appear, your typing is not interrupted, and the app you are in never loses focus. This is the shortcut for the second after you copy something and think "I want that later", when you cannot be bothered to name it. Use Ctrl + Shift + E when you do want to name it.
It always acts on the newest thing Relic captured, whichever device it came from. If your phone sent up a photo two seconds ago, that is what gets kept.
Keep the last capture
- Copy something
Copy the tracking number, the address, the line of code. Nothing about the copy changes.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + W
Press Ctrl + Shift + W. You can hold on to what you were doing. The window stays shut.
- Carry on
Open Relic later and the row carries a gold gem at its right, which means it is in your Vault. Switch the list to Vault to see only the items you kept on purpose.
The gem on the right of a row means it is kept.
The gem and the sound
Because nothing opens, the only sign it worked is a small gem that flourishes on your screen and fades. On Linux, and anywhere Relic cannot draw it, you get a notification instead:
Both of these are yours to change:
- Show vault animation is on to start with. Turn it off and the shortcut does its work with no sign at all.
- Play sound on promotion is off to start with. Turn it on and Relic plays a short sound when an item is kept, and at no other time.
You can keep any item the same way from the window itself: hover a row and click the gem, or open the row menu. See an item row.
